Class Policies: Content Guidelines (ShoilySchool)
Objective, secular, inclusive, and age-appropriate teaching standards
At ShoilySchool, we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment where all students and families feel welcome. All educators are expected to follow the content guidelines below when designing and submitting classes for approval.
These policies ensure that ShoilySchool remains a globally accessible, high-quality educational platform.
1. Core Content Principles
All ShoilySchool classes must be:
✔ Objective
Class content should be based on facts, evidence, and well-established knowledge. Educators should avoid using classes to promote personal opinions or beliefs.
✔ Inclusive
All learners must feel welcome regardless of background, identity, or location. Classes should reflect diversity and respect all students.
✔ Age-Appropriate
Content must be suitable for the intended age group and aligned with generally accepted educational standards.
✔ Balanced
When covering topics with multiple perspectives, educators should present information fairly and accurately.
2. Secular Content Policy
ShoilySchool classes must remain secular in nature.
Religion
- Do not promote or discourage any specific religion
- Do not present personal religious beliefs as part of instruction
- When teaching religion in history or culture, present it in an academic and neutral way
Holidays
- Holiday-themed classes must be taught from a cultural and educational perspective
- Only secular songs, stories, and activities should be included
- Religious teachings, rituals, or worship practices are not permitted in class content
3. Accuracy & Objectivity
Unbiased Teaching
- Present information based on research and evidence
- Avoid using class time for personal opinions or ideological viewpoints
- If students ask for personal beliefs, redirect toward factual or educational explanations when appropriate
Factual Content
- Use credible, science-based, and academically supported information
- Clearly distinguish between facts, theories, and opinions
- Avoid promoting pseudoscience as scientific fact
Multiple Perspectives
- When discussing history, culture, or society, include diverse viewpoints
- Encourage critical thinking and balanced understanding
No Sensational Content
- Avoid exaggerated, emotionally manipulative, or misleading content
- Prioritize clarity and educational value over dramatic presentation
4. Inclusivity Standards
Global Audience Awareness
- ShoilySchool serves learners worldwide
- Use inclusive language that is culturally respectful and globally understandable
Open Enrollment
- Classes must be open to all interested learners
- Avoid exclusionary statements (e.g., “for boys only,” “for girls only”)
Gender Inclusivity
- Respect all gender identities and expressions
- Use inclusive language in all listings and teaching materials
Representation
- Where appropriate, include diverse voices and perspectives
- Highlight contributions from underrepresented communities when relevant
5. Role-Play, Debate & Interactive Activities
Role-play and debate activities are permitted if designed responsibly:
- Clearly explain rules before starting
- Ensure students understand the learning objective
- Avoid assigning roles that promote inequality or harm toward any group
- Do not design scenarios that depict superiority or oppression of groups
- Provide reflection time after activities to reinforce learning outcomes
6. Educator Expertise Requirements
Classes should reflect the educator’s authentic expertise, which may include:
Lived Experience
Knowledge gained through personal experience, sustained interest, or real-world practice.
Language Teaching
- Beginner classes: 2+ years of immersion or equivalent experience
- Advanced classes: Native fluency or formal education in the language
Cultural & Historical Topics
- Educators must ensure accuracy and avoid generalizations
- Lived experience should be supported by credible sources when possible
Advanced Academic Content
- Higher-level subjects require demonstrated training or professional experience
- Educators must clearly explain qualifications in their class listing
High-Risk Skills (Case-by-case approval)
Examples include:
- Fitness or exercise training
- Survival skills
- Specialized physical activities
These require:
- Strong professional experience
- Clear safety guidelines
- Detailed parental guidance
7. Sensitive & Age-Appropriate Content
General Guidelines
When content may be sensitive or emotionally impactful:
- Include a clear Parent Guidance (PG) note
- Explain potential themes (violence, fear, historical trauma, etc.)
- Align content with widely accepted age-appropriateness standards
Sex Education & Human Biology
- Must be scientifically accurate and age-appropriate
- Must include inclusive discussion of identities where relevant
- Must provide credible educational sources
- Must avoid explicit or inappropriate content
Social Issues (Racism, Sexism, Inequality)
ShoilySchool allows educational discussions of injustice when:
- Based on credible academic or institutional sources
- Presented in an age-appropriate and supportive way
- Focused on education, not political persuasion
Educators should always include references and learning objectives.
8. Medical, Therapeutic & Health Restrictions
ShoilySchool does not allow classes that provide medical or therapeutic services.
Not Allowed:
- Medical treatment instruction
- CPR or first aid certification training
- Therapy or counseling (individual or group)
- Diagnosis or treatment of physical or mental conditions
- Occupational, speech, or physical therapy services
- Energy healing or non-scientific medical claims
Allowed:
- General wellness education
- Science-based nutrition education (non-prescriptive)
- Stress management techniques (non-clinical)
- Educational discussion of health topics
Nutrition & Diet
- General nutrition education is allowed
- Weight loss or personalized diet plans are not permitted
- Content must be based on established science
Mental Health
- Informational content about mental health is allowed
- Therapy-style support groups are not permitted
- Personal trauma-sharing groups are discouraged
9. Safety & Learner Protection
All classes must:
- Prioritize emotional and physical safety of learners
- Avoid triggering or inappropriate content for the stated age group
- Include clear guidance for parents when needed
- Follow best practices from recognized child-safety frameworks
