Teacher Earnings and Payments Policy
Understanding your compensation on ShoilySchool
At ShoilySchool, we believe educators should have a clear, fair, and transparent understanding of how they earn and receive payments for teaching on our platform.
This “Teacher Earnings and Payments Policy” explains how educators in Canada are compensated, how payouts work, and the responsibilities of teachers on ShoilySchool.
1. Teacher Earnings Model
ShoilySchool allows educators to set their own pricing for classes, including:
- Class price (per student)
- Minimum and maximum class size
- Course structure (one-time, weekly, or self-paced)
Revenue Split
For each paid enrollment:
- Educator receives: 70% of the class price
- ShoilySchool platform fee: 30% of the class price
This platform fee supports:
- Platform maintenance and development
- Payment processing systems
- Marketing and student acquisition
- Customer support and safety infrastructure
2. Payout System (Canada)
ShoilySchool processes educator payouts through secure third-party payment providers.
Payment Method
- Payments are made via PayPal (USD or CAD depending on availability)
- Educators must have a valid PayPal account linked to their ShoilySchool profile
Currency Conversion
If funds are converted by PayPal or your bank, additional conversion fees may apply. ShoilySchool is not responsible for external currency conversion charges.
3. Payment Schedule
A. One-Time Classes
- Payments are released 7–8 days after the class start date
- Based on total enrollments in the section
B. Weekly Classes
- Payments are processed weekly on Sundays
- Payments are issued 7–13 days after weekly sessions occur
Sunday Timing Rule
- Classes starting before 4:00 PM (Pacific Time) are included in the same payout cycle
- Classes starting after 4:00 PM may roll into the next cycle
C. Self-Paced Classes
Payments depend on enrollment timing:
- Full-payment enrollments: Paid 7–8 days after purchase
- Weekly enrollments: Paid on the Sunday following the enrollment week
D. Group / Membership Classes
- Payments are processed monthly
- Payouts are issued on the 15th of the following month
Example:
- March earnings → Paid on April 15
4. Batched Payments
If an educator has multiple active classes or sections:
- All payments may be combined into one daily payout
- Each section will appear separately in the PayPal transaction details
Payment details may include:
- Class name or section
- Number of students
- Earnings per section
5. Taxes & Reporting (Canada)
Educators are responsible for:
- Reporting income according to Canadian tax laws
- Keeping accurate records of earnings
- Filing required tax documents
ShoilySchool may issue tax summaries if required by law or payment processor regulations.
6. Linking Your PayPal Account
To receive payments:
- Add your PayPal email in your ShoilySchool educator settings
- Ensure the email is correct and active
Security Notice:
- Payment email changes may be subject to a short security hold
- Educators are responsible for maintaining account security
7. Reviewing Payments
Educators can track payments through PayPal:
- Log in to PayPal
- Go to Activity
- View received ShoilySchool payments
- Download statements if needed
8. Payment Adjustments & Transfers
If a student transfers between classes:
- Payments are adjusted automatically based on the new class section
- Earnings follow the student’s final enrollment section
9. Refund Policy After Payment
Refunds may occur after payouts in cases such as:
- Class cancellation or major schedule change
- Teacher withdrawal or platform removal
- Approved student refund requests
Refund Handling Process:
If a refund is required after payment:
- Educator may be asked to return 70% of the refund amount via PayPal
- ShoilySchool covers payment processing fees
- Refund details must be submitted to support
10. Educator Organizations (If Applicable)
If an educator operates as part of a group or organization:
- The organization is responsible for distributing payments internally
- ShoilySchool only pays the registered organization account
- Internal payment agreements are not managed by ShoilySchool
11. Payment Issues & Delays
Possible reasons for delays:
- Bank or PayPal processing time
- Weekend or holiday delays
- Verification or compliance checks
In rare cases, delays may take up to 48 hours beyond scheduled payout time.
12. Important Notes
- Educators must maintain accurate PayPal details
- ShoilySchool is not responsible for external bank fees
- Incorrect payment information may delay or block payouts
- Fraudulent activity may result in account suspension
